The North Platte 80s couldn’t get any offense going on Monday night in their 14-0 loss to the Garden City Wind at Bill Wood Field.

The game was scoreless for the first three innings as 80s pitcher Austin Salemi held Garden City at bay. But in the fourth inning, Salemi, who has been used as a reliever for most of the season, started to hit the wall and the Wind took advantage.

It began when Aidan Grabowski hit a two-run single of the right side of the infield with no one out. Aaron Izquierdo grounded out to second base to bring in a run, making it 3-0. Aiden Yeager got an RBI single up the middle. Peyton Lewis grounded out to the shortstop to score another run before Rob Morosetti hit a single just past second baseman Garrett Flaagan to make it 6-0.

Garden City scored at least a run over the next four innings to leave the 80s (9-20) in the dust.

With the win, the Wind took the three-game series at Bill Wood Field.

On Sunday, Garden City won 15-6. The game was tied at 3-3 going into the fourth inning, when the Wind scored five runs and they never looked back.

The lone win in the series for North Platte came on Saturday with their 13-9 victory.

The 80s were down 5-4 going into the bottom of the fifth, when they scored seven runs to take control of the game.

In the win, Michael Fisk batted in four runs while Ivan Santos and Carson McCurdy each drove in three.

Ira Clifton got the complete game victory pitching all nine innings.

Before that, the two teams played in Garden City, Kan. on Thursday and Friday, where the Wind both games, 12-1 and 11-2.

Next, the 80s will host the Blackwell Flycatchers for one game before having the next two days off.
