A fundraiser will be held on Saturday, March 28 for the Richard Wilson family, which has been beset with an array of medical costs.

Wilson underwent six surgeries in two weeks. Since his medical crisis began on Jan. 22, he’s been in intensive care three times, been placed twice in medically induced comas, had three helicopter rides and extensive outpatient care. He was hospitalized in Omaha for the better part of a month.

The spaghetti fundraiser, bake sale and silent auction will be held at the Moose Lodge, 1315 E. 4th in North Platte, from 4-7:30 p.m. on March 28.

Wilson recently returned home from the hospital. His recovery is expected to take another three months. He and his wife Renee will travel back-and-forth to Omaha for aftercare. Expenses continue to mount to maintain the household. Renee is the sole bread winner at this time.

Wilson is a life-long resident of North Platte and the owner of Laughing Buddha tattoo.

“If you know him, you know his heart,” Renee said. “When people say he would give you the shirt off his back, that isn’t an exaggeration. If you feel it in your heart to help support us during this ongoing crisis, we are deeply grateful for every share, prayer, and act of kindness.

Renee said donations of silent auction items are appreciated, as well as any type of salad and breadsticks. A family from Hastings has donated all the ingredients for the spaghetti.

Renee is the owner of “Blessed and Buzzin” in North Platte, which sells teas and other products for healthy living. She is also selling special packets of teas to raise money for Richard’s recovery. The packets are named “Still Standing,” “Warrior,” “We Don’t Quit,” Prayer Punch,” and “Faithfully Fighting.”
