Carter Still’s touchdown with 25 seconds gave North Platte High a 22-19 win at Norfolk on Friday.

Both teams traded touchdowns throughout the game. But Norfolk (1-5) was at a disadvantage the whole game as they missed the PAT after their first touchdown to take a 6-0 lead.

Later in the first half, the Bulldogs (3-3) got on the board with a touchdown of their own and DeAngelo Mata made the PAT to give NPHS a 7-6 lead.

Norfolk scored the first touchdown of the second half to regain the lead but they couldn’t get the two-point conversion to make up for the missed extra point and it was 12-7.

The Bulldogs scored again to take a 14-12 lead.

With five minutes left in the game, the Panthers went back ahead as quarterback Braydan Koozer punched it in from one yard out. North Platte stopped them on the two-point conversion, making Norfolk 0-3 on plays after touchdowns.

The Dawgs drove down the field, mainly with Owen Shea running up the middle into the teeth of the Panther defense. They got into scoring position as time wound down. Still, the quarterback, scored when he faked the hand off to Shea and hid behind the offensive line to the end zone. Still also ran in the two-point conversion, making it so that a Norfolk field goal would only tie the game and not win it.

But there wasn’t enough time for the Panthers to even do that and NPHS got the win on the road.

Next, the Bulldogs will host Omaha Northwest (0-6) on Friday, Oct. 9.
