The Internal Revenue Service has agreed to officially move the individual tax filing deadline to July 15, to lessen the financial impact of coronavirus on taxpayers.

“Moms, dads, and small businesses have enough to be worried about, but now they can brush the taxman off until July,” said Sen. Ben Sasse, who pressed the White House to extend the due date.

The delay could have the effect of leaving $200 billion in the mainstream economy for another 90 days, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has said.

“I’m glad that President Trump agreed and directed his team to get this done,” Sasse said.
