The North Platte Elks Lodge No. 985 will host its annual Hoop Shoot contest on Sunday, Dec. 15.
All students ages 8–13 are invited to participate.
The Hoop Shoot is a basketball free throw contest in which each student is given the opportunity to shoot 25 free throws.
More than 2.5 million students participate in this contest nationwide every year. The North Platte Elks lodge has been holding this contest for more than 40 years.
The winner and runner up of each age group receive a trophy. The winners will advance to shoot at district competition. If they win at districts and continue to win, they can advance to state, regional, and the national competition.
The Hoop Shoot will be held at the Adams Middle School gym, 1200 McDonald Road in North Platte.
Boys and girls that will be ages 8–13 on April 1, 2020 are eligible.
The girls will shoot at 1 p.m. and the boys will shoot at 2 p.m.
There is no charge to participate.
