The children’s story, Drifty the Snowman and the Rogue Santa, will take the stage Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 5-7 at the downtown Fox Theater, part of a mini-festival for kids and parents that includes Christmas carol sing-a-longs.

Also, the downtown Christmas tree will be lit Thursday at 6:45 p.m. in the Parkade Plaza, with a pancake supper from the Kiwanis, hot chocolate from the Berean Church, a giant globe, Christmas carols and more. Downtown carriage rides by Dusty Trails also start the same night.

This will be the third annual performance of Drifty the Snowman and the Rogue Santa, presenting a new sequel in the saga. It is produced by the North Platte Community Playhouse.

The kids fest begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the theater. The Christmas carol sing-a-long starts at 6:45 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and the curtain goes up on the play at 7:30 p.m. on those nights. The play lasts about 30 minutes.

On Saturday, the carol sing-a-long begins at 12:45 p.m. and the play is at 1:30 p.m.

The directors are Bea Webster and Sue McKain. There are about 35 children in cast, ages 6-13, with older students helping behind the scenes and adults playing the roles of Drifty, the Farmer, Santa and others. Ashley Aloi plays the role of Drifty.

Admission is by freewill donation.
