Dee Ann Cummings, 60, of West Point, Neb., formerly of North Platte, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018 at Premier Estates Nursing Home in West Point.
She was born on June 21, 1958 in Sutherland and adopted at birth by Norval & Vera (Jeffers) Cummings of North Platte.
She attended a special needs school in North Platte as a small child while living at home for several years. She later moved into a group home and worked at the North Platte Opportunity Center for forty years.
Dee Ann loved spending time with her family and was a very affectionate person. She loved going out to eat, shopping, playing cards and drinking coffee, but she especially loved spending time with her Grandma Abbott.
Although it was difficult having Dee so far from home in recent years, the family has been comforted by the TLC provided her at Premier Estates Nursing Home.
She is survived by her aunt, Darlene (Jeffers) Small; and several cousins in Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas who have loved her dearly and will miss her. DeeDee will always be remembered for her sweetness and joy in serving others.
Dee was preceded in death by her father in 1968; her mother in 1990; grandparents, Hazel & Glenn Cummings; father’s siblings, Dale Cummings and Nola Cummings Toone; grandparents, Charles Jeffers and Alice (Macomber) Jeffers Abbott; aunt and uncle, Dorothy (Jeffers) and Frank Isley; and uncle, Everett Small.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. at the North Platte Cemetery with Pastor George Cheek officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.–8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
