Workshops at the creation station of the North Platte library are set Dec. 7 and Dec. 9 to make items for Christmas and the New Year.

Workshops last an hour and have a fee, payable by cash or check at the session.

Workshops do fill up fast so don’t wait too long to pre-register, spokeswoman Terri Johnson said.

Saturday, Dec. 7: Laser cut Christmas ornaments: Sessions at 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm

We have four 3-dimensional ornament designs to choose from, and each person will get to assemble an ornament to take home.

This workshop highlights the Creation Station’s Full Spectrum Laser, and we want to show you what great things you can create. You will have an opportunity to learn how to put together laser cut pieces, and see the equipment in action.

A completed ornament could later be decorated with stain or paint for a personal touch on your tree this year. The workshop fee is $2 per person. The workshop is limited to ages 12 and up.

Monday, Dec. 9: Spiral bound perpetual calendars: Sessions at 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm, 6 pm, and 7 pm.

The New Year is just around the corner. Come to this workshop and we will make a perpetual flip calendar with the book binding machine in the Creation Station at the library.

We will provide picture packs and materials needed for the workshop. You can take your calendar home and replace the 3”x3” pictures we have available during the workshop with your own, to truly personalize this never-ending calendar. The minimum age is 9. The fee is $2.

Workshops are limited to 4 people per session. Reserve your time by calling 308-535-8036 ext 3320 or stop by the library and reserve in person.

Please note that no children under the age of 5 can be in the room, Johnson said.
