David A. Giesenhagen, 69, of North Platte, NE passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Great Plains Health Hospital.
David was born on March 27, 1955 in Grand Island, NE to Arthur James and Betty Katherine (O’Brien) Giesenhagen.
He graduated from North Platte High School in 1974. After graduating, David was inspired to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army where he served from 1974 to 1976. After his deployment ended, he joined the workforce briefly before returning to Army for another tour from 1976 to 1980. He then continued his service in the National Guard from 1982 to 1992.
During this time, David met the love of his life Debbie McEntee and the two were married on December 1, 1984. To this union was born their dearest daughter Stacy. David loved his family and spent as much time with them as possible while maintaining his passion for trucking. After leaving military life, David filled his days driving his 18-wheeler truck through all 48 mainland United States with his beloved dog, Snuggles. By the end of his trucking career, he had traveled over one million miles taking in breath-taking sights all around the country. He also picked up a job at the Union Pacific Railroad from 1998 to 2004 before returning to his trucking career. Later in life, he also worked at Gary’s Super Foods.
Those left to cherish David’s memory are his wife Debbie Giesenhagen; daughter Stacy (Herbert) Nauer of North Platte; brothers Jim (Vicky) Giesenhagen of Colby, KS, Darrel (Jeanette) Giesenhagen Holdrege, NE,and Gary (Donna) Giesenhagen of Wahoo, NE; sister Carol (Terry) Ritterbush of Minden, NE; mother-in-law Mary Ann McEntee; brothers-in-law Mark Bauder and J.R. (Tina Scott) McEntee; uncles Joe (JoAnne) Giesenhagen and Stephen (Lori) O’Brien; aunt Lola Scott; and several nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his mother and father, step-dad Chuck Johnson, father-in-law Robert McEntee, sister-in-law Carrie Bauder, his paternal and maternal grandparents, and his canine travel companion Snuggles.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
