North Platte’s community dance competition, Dancing with the Local Stars, will be held on Friday, Feb. 28 at the North Platte High School Performing Arts Center.

Dancing with the Local Stars is a fundraiser for the North Platte Public Schools Foundation.

NPPSF Executive Director Terry Burchell said this year’s event promises glitz, glamour, and plenty of entertainment as 10 local celebrities pair with local choreographers to compete for the title.

Proceeds will go toward the foundation’s programs, such as scholarships. In addition, a “People’s Choice Award” will raise funds for a grand piano, an essential addition to enhance community events and the district’s music program.

The night kicks off with a red carpet social at 6:30 p.m. where guests can mingle with the stars and enjoy the atmosphere. The main show begins at 7:30 p.m. featuring performances by dancers who represent the heart and soul of our community, Burchell said.

This year’s lineup includes a dynamic mix of community leaders, business owners, and educators:

  • Team 1: Rhonda Castillo – NP Police Department, Animal Control Officer and Romano Polanco – Perkins, consultant. Choreographers are Krystal Miller and Tallyn Hammond from Dance Factory.
  • Team 5: Cory Spotanski – NPHS Principal and Victoria Norgaard – KNOP Reporter. Choreographers are Aubrey Franz & Sarah Antonmarchi.
