Dale George Yanken, 74, of North Platte passed away on Jan. 26, 2026 at Maples at Centennial, surrounded by his family.
Dale was born to George and Opal Yanken, of Maxwell, NE, on October 27, 1951. He attended Maxwell Public Schools. On December 30, 1970, he married Carlene T. Yanken (Jensen). To this union four children were born, Susan, Nancy, Kelley and Scott.
Dale had a big heart with many stories to tell. Many stories he told began with, “Well, I tell you what”. He enjoyed gathering with his friends at his favorite place in town, Capone’s. He also enjoyed his hobby of shooting firearms. Estes Park held a special place in his heart, where he enjoyed many cherished family vacations. Most of all, Dale loved his grandkids and going to their sporting events.
Dale’s working years included time on the railroad as a switchman and brakeman. After leaving the railroad, he dedicated himself to caring for others at the hospital and Linden Court. Even after retirement, he continued working at the security gate at Menards where he made many friends.
Dale will be lovingly remembered and missed by his children, Nancy Bogus (David), Kelley Flock (Miles), and Scott. His siblings, Delores Janicke of North Platte, Darlene Shaw of Broken Bow and Joe of Dublin Georgia. Grandchildren; Johanna, Rachel, Blake, Austin, Creed, Madelyn, Griffin, Lyza, Bernice, Issac, Nathan, Jasmine, Jenika, Maya, and his friend Randy Ponce who are all from North Platte. Dales will also be missed by his beloved cat, Mittins.
He is proceeded in death by parents, George and Opal Yanken; his brother-in-law, Bob, his nephew, Steve; and his daughter, Susan.
A service was held on Monday, Feb 2 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Goodwin officiating. Dale was laid to rest in Plain View Cemetery located in Maxwell.
Carpenter Memorial Chapel had been entrusted with the arrangements.
