Curtis “Curt” M. Bagnell began his life on Nov. 7, 1968 in Woburn, Mass. where his father’s family was from, to Thomas and Janice (VonLehe) Bagnell Jr. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. He passed away suddenly on March 31, at the Great Plains Health Hospital in North Platte.
He moved with his family to Kansas, where his mother’s family was from in 1973. Later they moved to North Platte in 1979, where he entered the 5th grade. In his early years Curt enjoyed baseball, wrestling and in high school, football, where he earned the nickname of “Norman”. He graduated from North Platte Sr. High in May 1987.
After high school, he went on to Cheyenne Aero Tech in Cheyenne, Wyo. to become an aircraft mechanic. He also attended Mid Plains Vo Tech in North Platte for heating and air conditioning.
He worked for Hershey Flying Service and for Snell Services before he joined up with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1994 where he began his journey to be come an engineer.
He had a great love for all the pets in his life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, water activities and his time to himself, looked forward to family gatherings and his mother’s cooking. He relished in the time he spent with his nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, all his grandparents and two uncles, Ted Christian and Carroll Lange.
Survivors include his sister, Terri (Les) Gauby of Washington, Kan.; two brothers, James (Paula) Bagnell of North Platte and Kelly (Tara) Bagnell of Sidney; two nephews, Beau and Scott Bagnell; three nieces, Tess (Marc) Bacon, Skyler Howitt and Bailey (Matt) Pracht; two aunts, Judith Christian and Marita Lange; two uncles, Joe Bagnell and Bill Renzulli; and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be at Carpenters Memorial Chapel on Friday April 10 at 1:30 p.m.
Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Garden in North Platte. Pastor Ramsey will be officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Beau Bagnell, Michael Christian, Andrew Christian, Robert Christian, Jason Lange. Active Pallbearers will be Kelly Bagnell, Scott Bagnell, Skyler Howitt, Marc Bacon, Matt Pracht and Warren Beck.
Visitation will be Thursday April 9 from 5-7 p.m. at Carpenters with family present to greet friends. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
