The North Platte High boys’ and girls’ cross country teams won the McCook Invitational on Thursday.

The NPHS boys won with four top 10 finishes. The Bulldogs were led by freshman Jack Knapp, who finished third with 17:33.26. His teammate, Luke Tegtmeier, was half a second behind to finish in fourth.

Rian Teets followed in sixth place and Aiden Hawks was in eighth.

The meet was won by Mason McGreer of Perkins County at 16:44.53.

North Platte defeated runner-up Holdrege and third place Chase County for the title.

Hershey finished fourth and had five finish in the top 30. They were led by Chase Moorhead in 13th. Ezra McConnell and Ethan Elliott finished back-to-back in 21st and 22nd, respectively. Cayler Hacker was 25th and Noah Connick was 28th.

Sutherland finished seventh and they were led by Memphis Goodwin in 36th place.

Girls

The North Platte girls won at McCook with six runners in the top 16.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Jada Hothan’s fourth place finish. Hothan clocked in at 21:51.78.

Lindee Henning of Ogallala was first at 19:57.16.

NPHS had three straight finishers from 7-9 in Lachelle Benitez, Brooklyn Brown and Mary Nielsen. Olivia Dobesh was 12th and Isabel Shepherd was 16th.

North Platte was one of only three teams with enough runners to score as a team. They defeated Sidney and McCook.

Hershey’s two runners, Emma Elliott and Grace Cox, finished consecutively at 21st and 22nd.
