The North Platte High boys’ and girls’ cross country meet won the North Platte Invitational on Thursday at Oregon Trail Golf Course in Sutherland.

The Bulldog boys won as their lineup of six runners finished in the top 12.

They were led by Jack Knapp, who finished in second place at 16:38.3. Coltan Ham of North Platte St. Pat’s won at 16:11.4.

Following Knapp was the trio of Bryan Titus, Jace Kackmeister and Caleb Yanez, who finished fourth-sixth. Charlie Short was eighth and Parker Doughty was 12th.

The NPHS girls won the women’s division with six of the top 11 finishers.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by freshman Layla Thomas, who was second at 19:48.8, 19 seconds behind Rinlee Blomstedt of McCook.

The top five finishers were all freshmen. Scottsbluff’s duo of Nina Polk and Hannah Wemhoff were third and fourth, followed by North Platte’s Eden Majerus in fifth place. Majerus was followed by three teammates, Katie Teets, Mary Nielsen and Emma Nichols. Kierra Brunkhardt and Kennedy Miller also finished 10th and 11th for the Bulldogs.
