The North Platte High boys’ and girls’ cross country teams finished first on Thursday in the North Platte Invitational at Oregon Trail Golf Course in Sutherland to open the season.
The Bulldog boys with the top two individuals, Aiden Hawks and Jack Knapp. Hawks won with a time of 16:24.6 and Knapp was 26 seconds behind.
Luke Tegtmeier was fifth. He was followed by the trio of Charlie Short, Bryan Titus and Jace Kackmeister, who finished in places in 9-11.
Defending Class D champion North Platte St. Pat’s finished second. The Irish were led by Coltan Ham, who finished fourth at 17:06.7. His teammate, Dimitri Pettit, was sixth. Porter Connick was 15th and Tim Blakely was 27th.
Wallace had a couple of solid finishes from Max Hanson and Tristen Manary, who finished 12th and 21st, respectively.
The North Platte girls won behind the first place finish of Kori McClain. McClain, a junior who played volleyball last year, won at 19:39.6. She defeated Ashley Robertson of Wallace by nearly a minute.
Jada Hothan and Mary Nielsen finished back-to-back at sixth and seventh. Brooklyn Brown and Bailey Staroska were 13th and 14th.
Wallace finished third behind NPHS and Broken Bow. In addition to Ashley Robertson’s runner-up finish, they were propelled by the Elliana Robertson and Ryleigh Hanson, who finished 11th and 15th.
St. Pat’s finished sixth and they were led by Savy Miles, who came in 27th.
