Both North Platte High School cross country teams finished second at the Cozad Invitational on Saturday.

The boys finished behind Grand Island Northwest in the 12-team meet and the girls finished behind McCook.

The Bulldog boys had the top two finishers in Evan Caudy and Joel Bradley. Caudy won the meet with a time of 17:20.42 and Bradley was just behind at 17:48.47.

They were supported by Tom Moss, who finished 17th, and Jonah San Miguel, who was 21st.

The North Platte girls were led by a pair of freshmen, Zarah Blaesi and Nelia Rivas. Blaesi finished third at 21:07.09, behind winner Chelsey Espinoza of Hastings (20:38.46) and runner-up Miah Huppens of Ogallala (21:03.56).

Rivas finished in sixth place at 21:59.78.

Lexi Hoatson also finished 10th and Jenessa Arnold, another freshman, rounded out the scoring by getting 22nd.

St. Pat’s and Maxwell

North Platte St. Pat’s also competed in the meet. The girls finished fourth and the boys were 11th.

The girls were led by Kate Stienike, who finished fifth. Genna Blakely was seventh and Hayley Miles was 12th.

Logan O’Malley led the boys, coming in at 32nd.

The Maxwell girls competed and they finished 10th behind Tahjzha Botts, who finished 15th.
