Based on the novel of the 1800s, the musical Little Women will take the stage in late April at the North Platte Community Playhouse.

Little Women is a musical with a book by Allan Knee, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, and music by Jason Howland. 

The cast has been announced for the North Platte show, which will take the stage on the last two weekends of April.

Louisa May Alcott’s 1868-69 semi-biographical two-volume story focuses on the four March sisters –traditional Meg, wild, aspiring writer, Jo, timid Beth, and romantic Amy, and their beloved Marmee, at home in Concord, Mass., while their father is away serving as a Union Army chaplain during the Civil War.

The story is intercut with the vignettes in which their lives unfold — recreations of melodramatic short stories that Jo writes in her attic studio.

The musical will be Bea Webster will direct the musical. Sue McKain is the musical director. Seth Vapenik is the stage manager.

The musical will be performed on April 21-23, and April 28-30. The shows on Friday and Saturday will start at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale on Monday afternoon, April 17, the playhouse said.
