A “cars and coffee” fundraiser is scheduled Saturday morning, May 18 at the Espresso Shop at Fourth and Bailey in North Platte for Jamey Swanson, who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney failure.

The fundraiser runs from 8-11 a.m. Cars will assemble in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church parking lot. Silent auction items will be on sale.

Swanson has been told he only has a couple years to live.

He and his wife, Rachel, have been actively searching for treatment options and have found stem cell therapy to be a possibility at a cost of more than $25,000.

Swanson loves cars. His customized Hemi Hunter is prominent in car shows throughout the area.

Rachel said the community has rallied around them, trying to help with fundraisers and donations.

They are planning a large fundraising garage sale from May 31-June 2.
