Wallace defeated Paxton 38-36 on Thursday to win the D2-9 sub-district in Wallace.

The game was close the whole way but the Wildcats (19-7) outlasted the Tigers (14-10) to win the second of two meetings between the two teams.

On Jan. 16, Wallace also won the first meeting, 43-35, in Paxton.

The Wildcats were led by Colt Franklin with 16 points and Max Hanson followed with 15.

The Tigers were led by Maddex McConnell with 12 points.

Wallace enters the district final as the No. 11 seed in Class D2 and they will play at No. 6 Guardian Angels Central Catholic (14-11) on Saturday for a berth in the state tournament.
