Norfolk went on a 14-1 run to open the second half and the North Platte High Lady Bulldogs couldn’t get back in it after that, as they lost 49-36 on Friday in their season opener at the Dawg House.
Norfolk went up 13-7 with two minutes left in the first quarter after Atley Baumann made a pair of free throws. North Platte scored the next five points on an Ava Franzen bucket and a three-point play by Jaycee Burk to pull within one. But Baumann scored the next five on two free throws and a three-pointer to put the Panthers up 18-12 at the end of the first quarter.
