The North Platte First National Bank of Omaha Legion baseball team split a doubleheader against Kearney on Thursday.
Kearney won the first game, 12-4, while North Platte responded by taking the second, 9-2, at Memorial Field.
North Platte (27-11) had a hot start in the first game by scoring three runs in the first inning. But Kearney scored two in the bottom of the first and then six in the second to take control.
The Nationals scored only one run after that and Kearney cruised to victory.
North Platte took the lead in the first inning of game two, as well, by scoring two runs.
Kearney scored a run in the bottom of the first. But after two scoreless innings, the Nationals exploded for seven runs in the fourth to take a commanding lead.
Kearney only scored one run the rest of the way and North Platte came away with the split, not just on Thursday, but in the season series. The two teams also split the doubleheader at Bill Wood Field earlier in the year.
Jeremiah Seamann led the Nationals in the second game with three hits and four runs batted in.
Bryce Butterfield and Tate Janas split the work on the mound. Butterfield threw four innings and Janas pitched the other three.
Next, North Platte will play Twin Cities on Saturday in their home finale.
