A one-act play about the famous World War II North Platte Canteen is coming Sunday to the Fox Theater.

The Coffee Pot Is On was written by Minden High School’s counselor and drama instructor, Jeffrey Horner. The Minden team performed the 30-minute one-act, and won the district championship.

Approximately 50 students are involved in the production, on stage or behind the scenes.

The curtain goes up at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12.

Admission is by freewill donation, with the proceeds benefiting the Minden High one-act department as well as the Fox Theatre’s “Cheers to 90 Years” fundraising campaign.

Tyler Cronin, a board member at the playhouse and the drama instructor at Hershey High, saw the Minden performance Dec. 13 at the state one-act competition.

The one-act was runner up at state, and Cronin was so impressed he decided to plan to bring it to the Fox Theatre so Minden students, parents and friends could experience the play in the community where the Canteen was located.

The Minden one-act team performed the play for the Minden public in November.
