A man at the Western Engineering asphalt plant on East U.S. Highway 30 was killed Wednesday when he was pinned under a conveyor.

The accident was reported at 1:50 p.m. by an emergency 911 call, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies and North Platte Fire and Rescue arrived to find Andrew Martinez of Weslaco, Texas, 28, dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s statement.

There was no evidence of foul play, Sheriff Jerome Kramer said Thursday. Martinez apparently got caught in an asphalt conveyor and dragged under it.

An extensive investigation was conducted Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff said. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the death.
