Ashley Marie Navarrete (Hornelas) passed away on June 28, 2026 at the age of 35.

Ashley was born on May 4, 1991, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Cheryl Scott and Tony Hornelas. She graduated from North Platte High School in 2009, where she first met John Ryan Navarrete. Although life took them in different directions for a time, they found their way back to one another. They were married on September 9, 2019, and together built a life filled with love, laughter, family, and memories that will forever be cherished. Ashley and John passed away together on June 28, 2026, leaving behind countless cherished memories that will forever be held close by everyone who knew and loved them.

Growing up, Ashley was affectionately known as “Sissy,” a nickname that reflected the special place she held in her family’s heart. She had a compassionate heart and was a natural caregiver, always putting the needs of others before herself. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, she dedicated her life to caring for others, and whether she was caring for a patient, spending time with family, or helping someone in need, Ashley’s kindness and compassion touched everyone blessed to know her. No matter what life brought her way, Ashley’s love for her family never wavered. She loved music, spending time with family and friends, and above all, she cherished her children. She loved Hendrix and Drayven with all her heart while always holding the memory of her precious daughter, Bronx, close to her heart. Being their mom was the greatest joy of her life. Her family was the center of her world, and the love she gave will continue to live on in each of them.

Ashley is survived by her parents, Cheryl Scott and Tony Hornelas; her beloved sons, Hendrix and Drayven Hornelas; her sisters, Sunny Hornelas (Trey Brouillette) and Tonya Townsend (Tim); her nephew, Tyler Townsend; her niece, Tiffany Townsend; her grandparents, Shir and Randy Smith; her parents-in-law, Johnny and Deb Navarrete; her special friend, MenDi; along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her precious daughter, Bronx; her brother, Anthony Hornelas; her brother-in-law, Cosmo Daniel Contreras Jr.; her grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Scott and Grandma and Grandpa Silos; her uncles, Fred and Thomas Hornelas, David Scott, and James Jackson; and her aunts, Debbie Silos and Deb Scott.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Ashley’s kindness, compassion, and love will continue to live on through the memories she leaves behind. Our beloved Sissy will be deeply missed, forever loved, and forever remembered.

Family led graveside services was held Tuesday, July 7 at North Platte Cemetery. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
