Nebraska State Troopers issued 934 speeding tickets during the annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign May 20-June 2, in conjunction with the start of the summer driving season.
More troopers are on the road during the annual Click it or Ticket campaign, with a $25,000 grant $from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office to help cover overtime hours.
Troopers made 10 arrests for reckless driving, and well as 66 arrests for drug offenses.
Thirty-nine fugitives were arrested on active warrants.
Troopers issued 39 citations for seat belt violations, as well as for these offenses:
- 22 impaired drivers removed from the road for driving under the influence.
- 78 driving under suspension
- 56 no proof of insurance
- 7 minor in possession
- 26 open container
- 39 no seat belt
- 18 improper child restraint
Troopers also helped 585 motorists during the two-week period.
“Now that the summer driving season is well underway, we encourage all drivers to do their part to make the roads safe,” said Col. John Bolduc. “Whether your summer includes road-trips or trips across town, make sure you click your seat belt before hitting the road.”
