A signature art show and sale will open Friday, Sept. 6 at the Prairie Arts Center, 416 N. Jeffers in North Platte for the American Plains Artists, a group of artists who create and promote art in the Great Plains.
The opening reception will be from 5-7 p.m. The show will run through Sept. 28.
The artists are professionals who have received national recognition for award-winning work. They are from 10 states — Utah, Kansas, Illinois, Texas, California, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Montana, Wyoming, and Arizona.
Some of the artists will attend the opening reception and visit places in the North Platte area, gathering research materials or ideas or stories for future paintings and sculptures, said Judy McElroy, the president of the American Plains Artists organization.
The Prairie Arts Center is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m-4 p.m.
The public is encouraged to view the APA exhibit there or on www.americanplainsartists.com.
