Nine Lincoln County retailers refused to serve alcohol to a minor but one did not during a sting operation Wednesday by investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol.
Investigators conducted the alcohol compliance checks on Wednesday evening, NSP spokeswoman Mikayla Hall said.
In total, 10 businesses were checked. The business that failed the check was the Avid & Candlewood Suites. The compliance rate of 90%.
Businesses that sell alcohol to a minor are referred to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission. Clerks who sell alcohol to minors are cited for procuring alcohol for a minor.
This project is funded by the Region II Human Services through SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services, a federal agency) contracted through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services’ Division of Behavioral Health.
Alcohol-serving businesses and employees have access to training resources through the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission.
Hall said that responsible beverage server training is a comprehensive program designed to equip employees with the necessary knowledge and skills to serve alcohol responsibly in a bar, convenience store, grocery store, or at a special event, as well as manage difficult situations and uphold legal and ethical standards.
