The 4S Goat Expo will offer seminars, shows, and a sale on Oct. 3-4 at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds, 5015 W. Rodeo Road in North Platte.

The seminar will start promptly at 10 a.m. on Oct. 3.

Speakers and topics include:

  • Marketing Your Goat Herd – Randy Dusek, Lazy S-T Ranch San Angelo, TX
  • Managing Your Goat Pasture –Jack Arterburn, Extension Educator, Beef Systems Rushville, Nebraska
  • Developing a Breeding Program to Fit Your Operation, Randy Dusek, Lazy S-T Ranch San Angelo TX
  • Management Suggestions from Experienced Producers (Producers Panel)
  • Budgets for Nebraska Producers – Elliot Dennis, Assistant Professor of Livestock Marketing & Risk Management, Department of Agricultural Economics, University of Nebraska Lincoln
  • Youth Goat Judging Contest (Awards will be given to top youth in Junior and Senior Divisions)
  • Parasite Management – Randy Saner, Nebraska Extension Educator, North Platte Nebraska
  • Goat Show Judge is Randy Dusek, Lazy S-T Ranch, San Angelo TX.  Randy is a certified Boer Goat Judge.
  • Entries for the sale are due September 6

Goats will check-in Friday, Oct. 2 from 3-9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 3 before 8 a.m. with the seminar starting at 10 a.m.  The show will start Sunday, Oct. 4 at 8 a.m. for sale goats.  Afterwards, there will be a “show only” show.  The sale will start at 1 p.m.

The program will be held at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds located at 5015 W. Rodeo Road, in North Platte.

For the third year, a showmanship contest will be held for youth.
