The North Platte 80s began July by sweeping the Trinidad Triggers on the road on July 3-5.

At 16-15, the 80s are ranked second in the wild card standings where the top two teams qualify for the Pecos League playoffs.

On Saturday, North Platte completed their sweep of the Triggers in Colorado with a 12-5 win.

Trinidad scored the first three runs in the first inning. The 80s answered with two in the top of the second. It remained 3-2 until the bottom of the seventh when the Triggers scored two runs to go up 5-2.

But North Platte tied the game with a three run eighth and they blew past Trinidad with seven runs in the ninth.

The day before, on the 4th of July, the 80s defeated the Triggers, 10-6. Again, the 80s came back after falling behind in the early innings.

Trinidad scored five runs in the third to take a 5-1 lead. But North Platte came back right away with four in the fourth to tie the game. The 80s took the lead with a run in the sixth. They followed with a run each in the seventh and eighth, as well as two in the ninth.

North Platte had little trouble in the first game of the series on Thursday as they won, 8-1.

The 80s took a 3-0 lead after scoring two runs in the fourth inning and another in the fifth. The Triggers scored their only run in the seventh but North Platte scored five runs in the eighth to put Trinidad away.

Next, North Platte will play two games at the Blackwell (Okla.) Flycatchers on Monday and Tuesday before hosting the Flycatchers the next four nights starting on Wednesday.
