“Seussical,” the first performance of the season at the North Platte Community Playhouse is almost here.
Production dates are Sept. 21, 22, 28 and 29, with the curtain going up at 8 p.m.
On Sept. 23 and 30, the curtain time is 2 pm.
Director Darrell Drullinger is pleased to be doing an encore performance of this show, which was performed on the Fox Theater stage eight years ago.
“This show is amazing. Sights, sounds and characters right out of Dr. Seuss books come to life right in front of you,” he said.
“We’ve had many requests to do it again. I was glad when the board said, ‘let’s do it,’” he said. “A couple veterans of that show are in this one, but it is mainly a whole new cast, which brings a whole new feeling and perspective.”
Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza. It features Dr. Seuss characters such as Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination — Jojo.
The characters traverse the Jungle of Nool, the Circus McGurkus and the invisible world of the Whos.
If you saw it before, you’ll want to see it again — and if you missed it the first time, you won’t want to miss it this time, Drullinger said.
Karen Marsh is the musical director. Ciera Carlson is in charge of choreography. Lynette Niles is an assistant and back stage manager and Martha Orcutt is the costume mistress. Vincent Cooper is the set designer.
