Darian Diaz, a freshman from North Platte High, won the AAU High School state championship in the 120 pound division for all classes (A-D) over the March 9-10 weekend in Kearney.

Diaz finished with a 5-0 record at the tournament and outscored his opponents by an impressive 62-11 margin en route to the title.

He will be representing Team Nebraska on June 24-28 in Orlando, Fla. at the ESPN World Wide of Sports complex.

In February, Diaz competed at the NSAA high school tournament in Omaha in the Class A 113 lb. division and finished in fifth place. As a freshman, he compiled a 48-5 record.
