Deborah’s Legacy and The Connection homeless shelter will receive donations from First National Bank on at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the bank. 

These are community block grants that focus on economic self sufficiency, said Beth DeFreece, the executive director of the shelter.

Deborah’s Legacy will receive $10,000 for a residential program, along with support service and educational opportunities, for three women who are facing homelessness.

The Connection will receive $6,500 for case management that focuses on obtaining and maintaining employment, enhancing job readiness, encouraging attendance at GED or health related fast-track programs at Mid Plains Community College, as well as covering such costs as books, specialized clothing for a job, bus passes to get to work, and so forth, DeFreece said.
