Music and laughter shook the room during the North Platte Business and Profession Women’s Wine & Brews festival, held Friday, Feb. 9 from 5:30-8 p.m.
The fundraiser earned its dues with a silent auction, with bidding throughout the evening. Fifty-three sponsors’ donations made the silent auction possible.
The festival was to benefit local organizations that assist women, such as Deborah’s Legacy. Proceeds also sponsor scholarships for 2-3 non-traditional women students. These scholarships are typically worth $1,000. The women are selected by Mid-Plains Community College.
Pals Brewery provided the beers, featuring Jalapeno Cream Ale, Midnight in the Daylight, Almost Red Mild, and Hershey Honey Wheat.
Wines presented at the event were the Wild Horse Cabernet Sauvignon, Greystone Cellars Merlot, Meiomi Pinot Noir, Clos du Bois Pinot Grigio, Bell’Agio Rosso Dolce, and Umberto Flore Moscato d’ Asti.
Plenty of hors d’oeuvres were served. Crab, ham and turkey rolls were just a few of the tantalizing items offered, along with Swedish meatballs, dough pretzels and desserts.
According to the Business & Professional Women facebook page, their mission is to be the leading advocate for working women by empowering them to achieve their full potential.
BPW also partners with employers to build successful workplaces through education, research, knowledge and policy.
The festival was held at the Holiday Inn Express at 300 Holiday Frontage Road. Tickets were $25 in advance, or $30 at the door.
