A large tree at 3321 West E street is lush and green throughout the summer, and retains most of its leaves even as Thanksgiving approaches.

The tree is a mature Bur Oak, which typically doesn’t lose its leaves until mid-winter.

The oak has been chosen as the “Tree of Autumn” by the North Platte Tree Board.

The owners, Ted and Lindsey Daniels, were convinced by their daughter, Hannah, to make the tree easy to climb.

Hannah competes in gymnastics and she devised a clever rope system to get her even higher into the branches, as the picture illustrates.
