The North Platte High School boys’ track and field team had three first place finishes on Thursday at the Grand Island Invitational.
The Bulldogs finished fourth out of six teams that competed in GI with 79 points. Lincoln High won the meet with 148 points. Millard West was second with 127 and Grand Island was third with 88 1/2 points.
In his second event back from injury, Jacob Harvey won the pole vault for NPHS with a height of 14 feet. He beat Carson Cahoy of Grand Island by six inches. Harvey’s teammate Dalton Caley was third at 12 feet.
The duo of Elliott Purdy and Joey Larson swept the throwing events for North Platte. Purdy won the shot put with a distance of 53’9″, while Larson was third at 49’4 1/4″.
In the discus, the two of them claimed the top two spots with Larson taking first place at 156’10”. Purdy was second at 151’8″.
The North Platte girls finished sixth out of seven teams on Thursday with 37 points.
Millard West won the invite going away with 209 points. Lexington was second with 81 1/4 points.
The Lady Bulldogs had one first place finish when they won the 800 meter sprint medley relay. The foursome of Kathy Mathieu, McKenna Little, Peyton Neff and Peyton Negley clocked in at 1:57.41 to edge Millard West by six-tenths of a second.
