Rose Marie Anderson, 81, of Ogallala passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Ogallala Community Hospital. Rose Marie was born on Jan. 14, 1937 in Sidney to Chester and Catherine (Trienan) Phelps.
She attended school in Lorenzo until the family moved to Kimball where she graduated from Kimball High school in 1955. She worked for Ideal Market, Safeway, and First State Bank of Kimball.
Rose Marie married James L. Jackson in Kimball in February 1956 and to that union two boys were born: James and Michael. On July 16, 1976 she married the love of her life Roger “Andy” Anderson in Las Vegas, Nev. They made their first home in Saratoga, Wyo. where she worked at the Old Baldy Club until moving to the Greeley Colorado area where she worked for Wells Fargo Banking until retiring in 2003. Over the years Rose Marie and Roger had a getaway cabin at Van’s Lake McConaughy and in 2006 they built their dream home at Vans Lakeview.
Rose Marie loved life, her family and her friends. She loved to play cards with her lake family and friends. She loved to refinish antique furniture and truly enjoyed shopping at antique and second hand stores to enhance her greatly loved treasures. The most important time of her day was 3 pm happy hour with the Lake Gang.
Rose always put others before herself. She will be sadly missed by all the lives she touched.
Survivors include her husband; sons, James (Deb) Jackson of Norton, Kan. and Michael (Heidi) Jackson of Gering; brother, Vincent (Linda) Phelps of Brighton, Colo.; sister, Patty (Butch) Nesbitt of Buckcanon, W.V.; sister-in-law, Myrna (Bob) Fish of Kearney; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and three great grandsons.
Rose Marie was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be on Saturday, March 17 at 11 a.m. at the Ogallala Draucker Funeral Home, which is entrusted with arrangements. Fr. Bryan Ernest of the St. Luke’s Catholic Church will officiate. Inurnment of cremains will be at a later date in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
