On Friday, an officer with the North Platte Police investigated a report that John Jones was harassing a person who had a yearlong protection order, but the order just expired.

The victim told police Jones, 48, made contact several methods since the protection order expired

The officer  substantiated that Jones had made several attempts to contact the victim. Jones was taken into custody, charged with stalking. Bond was set at $10,000.



In another arrest Friday, police were dispatched to Gary’s Superfoods to check out a report that a shoplifting was in progress.

The caller said the shoplifter was Richard Giese.

Upon arrival, an Officer saw Giese, 47, leaving the store. He stopped Giese and searched him, and found several stolen items in his coat, police spokesman J. Johnson said.

Police also found Giese is wanted on four other theft charges in Lincoln County.

Giese was taken to the Lincoln County jail. Bond was set at $10,000.

In September, Giese was charged with swindling on facebook with an ad about a refrigerator. He was convicted and sentenced to 30 days in jail. Three similar charges of theft by receiving were dismissed. He spent 12 days in jail, then was released after he came up with 10% of a $5,000 bond, according to Lincoln County sheriff’s records.



On Saturday, February 3, 2018, an officer saw a vehicle driven by Carlos Ayala, 48.  The officer obtained information that Ayala’s drivers license had been revoked.

Police pulled the car over at the intersection of Third and Cottonwood.

Ayala became argumentative and uncooperative, Johnson said. The officer tried to take him into custody, but he resisted, Johnson said.

Ayala was charged with driving under revocation and resisting arrest. Bond was set at $10,000.
