Fall oil changes will fuel music programs, including band, at North Platte’s Catholic Schools.

From November 13-25, Mobil 1 Lube Express/Modern Tire Pros will donate $30 from every oil change to the North Platte Catholic Schools Endowment-Trust.

The express lube is at 1402 S. Jeffers.

This will be the seventh straight year that store owners Gary and Judy Jones have held an oil change fundraiser to support local education.

During that time, the North Platte Catholic Schools have received nearly $19,000 from Modern Tire Pros for projects like a science lab renovation, continuing education for teachers, and various school improvements.

Proceeds generated from the 10-day event will be used for new instruments and supplies for the K-12 band and music programs, Endowment Director Wendy Dodson said.

Dodson said rarely are funds available in the regular school budget to buy band instruments.

St. Patrick’s band instructor Jennifer Winder said this oil change donation will be a wonderful way to be able to buy a new electric keyboard and other supplies that are desperately needed.

The oil change event runs from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday between Nov. 13-25.

Students from the St. Patrick’s music department will kick off the event by providing live music from 8-9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 13.

Participating customers are asked to present a coupon to make their oil change eligible for the $30 donation. Coupons are available at the NPCS Endowment Office (601 S. Tabor), McDaid or St. Patrick’s School offices, Nebraskaland National Bank (main bank location), or on the North Platte Catholic Schools Facebook page .

Store owner Gary Jones said customers won’t be charged extra for the oil change; this is simply an opportunity to support the North Platte Catholic schools.
