Seven men were arrested Friday for soliciting prostitutes in Grand Island, snared in an undercover operation conducted by police and state troopers.

The operation was under the authority of the Central Region of the Nebraska Human Trafficking Task Force, Nebraska State Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas said.

One of the men arrested was from Grand Island. One was from Bartley in Red Willow County and the rest were from communities near Grand Island.

In addition to trying to rescue people being trafficked against their will for commercial sexual activity, the Human Trafficking Task Force aims to reduce the demand for commercial sexual activity by conducting undercover investigations targeting and identifying sex buyers.

Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol Troop C and Grand Island police officers conducted the sting, Thomas said.

The following individuals were charged with solicitation of prostitution and taken to the Hall County jail: Brandon Stickley of Cairo, Craig Jones of Kearney, Jesus Oliveros of Grand Island, Buckley Haag of Bartley, Michael Smidt of Glenvil, Steve Cole of St. Paul and Mike Aipperspach of Hastings.
