I recently was in Maxwell and saw the new veterans’ memorial that is being built there.
I think the people who put up the money to erect the memorial have donated to a worthy cause.
Money is available to finish installing the underground sprinklers. Funds are needed to finish the project, including the statues.
Melvin Effenbeck recently passed away and the family requested memorial money go to the Maxwell Veterans Memorial.
I recently had my opportunity to donate to the fund, keeping my promise to the family.
It is my wish for people living in the area to dig deep into their pockets, if necessary, and complete the project. We owe it to those men and women on active duty and to our youth.
Donations may be sent to the Village Office in Maxwell, 108 S Pine St, Maxwell, NE 69151.
I’m glad to be able to make a small donation to the memorial.
