In Nebraska’s Legislature on Monday, property tax relief FAILED! Land Banks PASSED! Now cities in Nebraska can create another government body to buy land under the premise of fixing problem properties.
Yes, on the same day that our state Senators failed to find a way to lower property taxes, senators spent hours passing a bill on second reading allowing each city to create another government body that can take land off the tax rolls, issue bonds, create debt and will be run by a board that is not elected by the people.
The bill must still pass final reading. Call your state senator today or ask the Governor to veto LB 873.
