This is Kent Weems of rural Lincoln County, and I’m a candidate for County Commissioner in Dist. 2.
Budget decisions by the Nebraska Unicameral will inevitably impact local governmental subdivisions and ultimately the people burdened with funding it all: you, me and all of our neighbors in Lincoln County and beyond.
In the current economic climate, even if you’re an urban dweller or suburbanite with a modest acreage to your name, you’ve already seen exorbitant evaluation increases, testing your ability to maintain your household.
Maximizing efficiencies in government, while maintaining essential operations and keeping infrastructure in sound condition should be the primary goal of all public officials.
In these times, it’s even more crucial to focus on this goal. Discretionary spending should be kept at bay while we focus on the essentials.
I bring 40 years of experience in retail agriculture, farming and ranching, investment brokerage and personnel management. My wife and I have worked in tandem for the last 36 years, involved in the operation of a small farm and ranch operation, all the while maintaining jobs in town during this time period.
We truly know what it’s like to live on what’s left at the end of the day.
I would like to put those years of experience to work on the county board for the new term in 2019.
With your support at the polls on May 15, I can achieve the first step in doing just that.
Thank you for your consideration.
