Holm
June Pauline Holm, 90, of North Platte formerly of Sutherland died Thursday, August 2, at Premier Estates in North Platte. June was born on June 22, 1922, at Denver, CO. At the age of 10 1/2 months, she was adopted by Rev. Joseph Benjamin and Ethel Florence Helvey Brox. She grew up in Nebraska and attended schools in Cairo, Lowell, Comstock and graduated from high school at Cedar Rapids, NE in 1939. June attended Nebraska Wesleyan for a year and two summers at Kearney State Teacher''s College. She later taught two years in rural schools at Myrtle School District north of North Platte and Pleasant Hill School District south of Sutherland. On August 23, 1942, June married Lawrence Orville Holm at Hershey. They made their home on the farm south of Sutherland until 1974 when they moved into town where June was very active in the Sutherland community. June was correspondent for the Sutherland Courier Times for 58 years. She was a member of the Sutherland United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star since 1944 and served 33 years as secretary for Platte Valley Chapter #305. June had been with the Excelsior Extension Club since 1950 and served as line chairman for the Southside Floral Fund since its beginning in 1953. June is survived by her daughter, Joyce (John) Lamphear, of North Platte; her son, James (Margie) Holm, of Sutherland; five grandchildren, Mark (Jessica) Lamphear, Clay Lamphear, Cory (Tori) Holm, Tony (Tina) Holm and Christy (Joel) Scott; 14 great-grandchildren, Emily Lamphear, Evan Lamphear, Johnathon Lamphear, Jami Lamphear, Caden Holm, Audrey Holm, Chase Holm, Addison Holm, Noah Holm, Marissa Holm, Ethan Holm, Landon Scott, Avery Scott and Mya Scott; and several nieces, nephews and other family and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; a son, Jerold; her parents, Joseph and Ethel Brox; and a great-granddaughter, Erica Lamphear. Funeral service was 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 6 at the Sutherland United Methodist Church with Pastor Kolawole ''Kola'' Akinnigbagbe officiating. Burial followed in the Riverview Cemetery south of Sutherland. Condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
