Katherine  M.  Reed
     Katherine “Kathy” M. Reed, 74, of Hershey, passed away Monday, September 12, 2011 in Omaha. Katherine was born on May 22, 1937 to John Lee and Mae Clarice (Cunning) Teeters in New Market, IA. She was the youngest of twelve children. She graduated High School in 1955 from New Market High School. Katherine was united in marriage June 26, 1955 to Gary Reed in New Market, IA; they had been married 56 years. To this union three children were born, Gayle, Kim and Kevin. Katherine over the years was involved in many activities, as well as being involved in the life of her family and grandchildren. She had spent the last 34 years as Treasurer of the Hershey Youth League, a summer baseball and softball program for the youth. Twenty-eight years of this along with her husband Gary, was spent in the concession stand at the ball diamonds. Katherine had also been the secretary for the North Platte Women''s Bowling Assn. She was a member of the North Platte Women''s Bowling Assn. of which she was also a Hall of Fame Member. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and also a member of the Eagles and Moose Auxiliaries. Bowling was a big part of Kathy''s life and was a very active member until her health no longer allowed her to continue bowling.
     Her survivors include her husband, Gary of Hershey; children, Gayle (David) Beran of North Platte, Kim Reed of Hershey and Kevin (Darcie) Reed of Heartwell, NE; sister-in-laws, Kathleen Teeters of New Market, IA and Janess Warren of Shambough, IA; six grandchildren, Trevor (Heather) Stringham of North Platte, Kyle (Shawna) Stringham of Broken Bow, Ashley Stringham of North Platte, Katrina Beran of North Platte, Nolan and Arabella of Heartwell, NE; and four great granddaughters, Alexandria, Victoria, Izabella and Kaylynn Stringham.
     She was preceded in death by her parents and eleven brothers and sisters. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com.
     Memorials are suggested to the First Responders Unit of Hershey Volunteer Department. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with Pastor Adam Davenport officiating. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens south of North Platte.Wednesday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
