R. Ruth  Pickett
     R.Ruth Pickett, age 72, of North Platte, passed away August 5, 2011 at her home.
     She was born October 19, 1938 in Mankato, Kansas to Henry and Daisy Niceschwander Heskett. After graduation she married Billy Decker in 1958, to this union a son was born, Bret Allen Decker. They moved to Dallas, Texas and she married Grady Vaughn; to this union Grady “Bud” Vaughn Jr. was born. She worked at Southwest Wheel at Mesquite, Texas where the family was living.
     She moved back to Hastings with her sons and she worked for Consolidated Motor Freight, after five years they moved to North Platte in 1980. She married H. D. Pickett in 1983 in Las Vegas. She worked for Pioneer Chemical for 7 years.
     Ruth was a member of the Honda Motorcycle Club for many years and she owned the Taft School Antiques Store for 16 years.
     Survivors include one son, Grady “Bud” Vaughn of North Platte; three grandchildren, Alexis Leigh, Blake and Chloe Vaughn all of North Platte; sisters, Jacqueline M. (Gerald) Boyles of Burr Oak, Kansas, Joan (Jerry) Lockwood of Great Bend, Kansas, Barbara (Garold) Omestede of Guide Rock, NE; brother, Jerry Dale (Kathy) Heskett of Lincoln, NE; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Bret Allen Decker; sisters, Thelma Wallace, Wilma Hageman, Norma Rodence; and a brother, Donald Heskett.
     A memorial has been established in her name and online condolences can be made at www.adamsswanson.com.
     Cremation was chosen. Memorial services will be at a later date. Those wishing to send cards may do so to her son, Grady Vaughn, 1921 West 3rd Street, North Platte, NE. 69101. Adams and Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
