• Prairie Arts Center (416 S. Jeffers) - Bridges Sesquicentennial Photo Winners, traveling photo exhibit linked to history, generations and cultures. Presented by Hildegard Center, Aug. – Sept. 22, open 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Tues.-Sat.

• NP Art & Gift Gallery (516 N. Dewey) – Art displays by members. The Abstract Experimentation art show opens Aug. 9. Hours: 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Tues.-Sat.

• Cody Park (1601 N. Jeffers) - Concessions, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. daily. Rides, Fri. 5-10 p.m. & Sat.- Sun. noon-10 p.m.

 Friday, Sept 15

• Prairie Arts Center (416 S. Jeffers) - Screening of documentary, “The Vietnam War” by Ken Burns. Noon. 30-minutes. No charge.

• Wild West Arena (2400 N. Buffalo Bill Ave) - Watermelon feed for Kids Club members. 3 p.m. Then, the NIRA Great Plains Region College Rodeo, 7 p.m. Admission. $10, children 10 & under free. Also Kids Club will work with Rodeo Team & Queen.

• Kelsey’s Place (219 W. Rodeo Rd) – Karaoke every Friday. 7 p.m.

• Lincoln County Raceway (5105 West Highway 30) – Gentry/Abegg memorial race. Sport Compact, IMCA Modified, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, Sports Mods. Gates open at 4 p.m., Hot Laps 5:30 p.m. Race starts at 6:30 p.m. Admission $10; Kids (6-12) $5; Kids (5 and under) Free; Pit Pass $25.

• Old Fox theater (Fifth and Bailey) - The movie Momma Mia. 7 p.m. $5 for everyone.

 

Saturday, Sept 16

• Wild West Arena (2400 N. Buffalo Bill Ave) - NIRA Great Plains Region College Rodeo, Performances. 7 p.m.

• Platte River Mall parking lot (1000 S. Dewey) - Farmer’s Market. 7:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

• Wallace – fall festival. A day of parades, kids games, rodeo tractor, free BBQ, street dance and other events, located throughout the village.

• Lincoln County Historical Museum (2403 N. Buffalo Bill Ave) – Pancake feed, all you can breakfast for Rail Days. 7:30–11 a.m.  $7 for 12 & up, $4 for 6-11, free 5 & under. (see separate article for all the Rail Days events.)

• D & N Event Center, (501 E. Walker Rd) - Heartland Hellcats v Central Kansas, First North Platte coed bout & last at-home bout of the season. Tickets: $12- adults $7- under 12 purchased from team member/ heartlandhellcats.com or Express AVL. 6:30 p.m.

• Pals Brewing Company (4520 S Buffalo Bill Ave) - Glo-run 5K/North Platte Area Runners Club, DJ at 7:30 p.m.

• Golden Spike Tower (1249 N. Homestead Rd) - Twilight Tours, Open until 11 p.m. September 30, Always the third Saturday of the month.

• Old Fox theater (Fifth and Bailey) - The movie Momma Mia. 7 p.m. $5 for everyone.

Sunday, Sept. 17

• Old Fox theater (Fifth and Bailey) - The movie Momma Mia. 3 p.m. Sing-a-long. $5 for everyone.


Tuesday, Sept. 19

• Platte River Mall parking lot (1000 S. Dewey) - Farmer’s Market, 3-6 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept 20

• The Prairie Arts Center (416 N Jeffers) - The Pigcasso Project, Community Connections Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition & Prairie Arts Center fundraiser silent auction. Nearly 45 piggy banks for the silent auction. Pigs were painted by local artists and youth. Pulled pork BBQ, free will donation. 5:30-7 p.m.

• Platte River Mall parking lot (1000 S. Dewey) - Farmer’s Market, 3-6 p.m.

• Switchyard (520 N Jeffers) - Bingo Night for Walk to end Alzheimer’s, fundraiser.$20 fee includes: Bingo book & dauber. Great prizes/ 50/50 raffles. 6-8 p.m.

• 21 Dance Club, Senior Center (900 E. 10th) – Music by Ray Mullen, 7-9:30 p.m. Public welcome. Bring finger food, $5.

• VFW (2100 E 4th) - Bingo 6:45 p.m.


Thursday, Sept. 21

• Platte River Mall parking lot (1000 S. Dewey) - Farmer’s Market, 3-6 p.m.

• Quality Inn and Suites (2102 S Jeffers St) - ‘Discover Hope’ is the theme for a fundraising banquet for the Women’s Resource Center. Keynote speaker Jeffrey Dean, author, pastor, & communicator. With thanks to underwriters, the meal is complimentary so all donations raised will go to WRC. 6–8:30 p.m.
