• North Platte Public Library (120 W. Fourth) - Author Jeff Barnes presents A Man in a Better Place: Jesse James in Nebraska. Noon. No charge. Call library at 535-8036, ext. 3310 to reserve a seat.

• North Platte Community College (601 W. State Farm Rd) - Preview screening of the new Ken Burns’ documentary The Vietnam War. 7 p.m. No charge, but seating is limited.

 

Friday, Sept. 8

• Best Western Hotel (3201 S Jeffers) - Col. Cody’s Cruise Show & Shine, registration 3-8 p.m. Kick off BBQ party 6-8 p.m.

• Kelsey’s Place (219 W. Rodeo Rd) – Karaoke every Friday. 7 p.m.

• Espresso Shop (419 N. Dewey) – Open Mic Nite. $2 donation suggested. Refreshments on sale. 7-9:30 p.m. Creativity encouraged.

 

Saturday, Sept. 9

• Platte River Mall parking lot (1000 S. Dewey) - Farmer’s Market. 7:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

• Downtown North Platte (on the bricks) - Col. Cody’s Cruise Show & Shine, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Cody Park (1601 N Jeffers) - Doggy Dash 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run, Registration at 7:45 a.m. Race 8:45 a.m. Runners encouraged to run with dog. All dogs must be on a leash.

• Golden Spike Tower and Visitor Center (1249 N. Homestead Road) – Li’l Spike conductors club. 3 p.m. Learn about trains, enjoy a snack, create something to take home. $5 per child, parents free. Second Saturday each month.

• D&N Event Center (501 E Walker Rd) – Col. Cody’s cruise show and shine dinner 6 p.m. raffle, games.

• Wellfleet Fall Festival – All day, 7 p.m–midnight. Fishing contest, stock dog classic, craft show, sand volleyball, power wheels derby, antique tractor pull, food, beer garden, parade (1 p.m.), kids games, team sorting, poker run, dance to Innocent Mischief.

Sunday, Sept. 10

• D & N Event Center (501 E Walker Rd) - Col. Cody’s Cruise Show & Shine, Church Service 9 a.m. Awards, major door prizes 9:30 a.m.

• Cody Park (1400 N. Jeffers) – Arts in the Park. More than 100 booths of unique arts, crafts & vendors. Food, entertainment. No admission charge.

 

Tuesday, Sept. 12

• Platte River Mall parking lot (1000 S. Dewey) - Farmer’s Market, 3-6 p.m.

 

Wednesday, Sept. 13

• 21 Dance Club, Senior Center (900 E. 10th) – Music by Lou Kraus, 7-9:30 p.m. Public welcome. Bring finger food, $5.

• VFW (2100 E 4th) - Bingo 6:45 p.m.

• North Platte Community Playhouse (301 E. Fifth) – Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of a former U.S. President George W. Bush. 10:30 a.m.-noon. Admission is a Town Hall Lecture series membership.

Thursday, Sept. 14

• Platte River Mall parking lot (1000 S. Dewey) - Farmer’s Market, 3-6 p.m.

 

Friday, Sept 15

• Cody Park & other locations around North Platte - North Platte Rail Days.

• Prairie Arts Center (416 S. Jeffers) - Screening of documentary, "The Vietnam War" by Ken Burns. Noon. 30-minutes. No charge. 

• Wild West Arena (2400 N. Buffalo Bill Ave) - Watermelon feed for Kids club members. 3 p.m. NIRA Great Plains Region College Rodeo, 7 p.m. Admisssion. $10, children 10 & under free. Also Kids Club will work with Rodeo Team & Queen.

• Kelsey’s Place (219 W. Rodeo Rd) – Karaoke every Friday. 7 p.m.

• Lincoln County Raceway (5105 West Highway 30) – Gentry/Abegg memorial race. Sport Compact, IMCA Modified, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, Sports Mods. Gates open at 4 p.m., Hot Laps 5:30 p.m. Race starts at 6:30 p.m. Admission $10; Kids (6-12) $5; Kids (5 and under) Free; Pit Pass $25.

 

Saturday, Sept 16

• Wild West Arena (2400 N. Buffalo Bill Ave) - NIRA Great Plains Region College Rodeo, Performances. 7 p.m. 

• Platte River Mall parking lot (1000 S. Dewey) - Farmer’s Market. 7:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

• Wallace – fall festival. A day of parades, kids games, rodeo tractor, free BBQ, street dance and other events, located throughout the village.

• Lincoln County Historical Museum (2403 N. Buffalo Bill Ave) – Pancake feed, all you can breakfast for Rail Days. 7:30–11 a.m.  $7 for 12 & up, $4 for 6-11, free 5 & under.

• D & N Event Center, (501 E. Walker Rd) - Heartland Hellcats v Central Kansas, First North Platte coed bout & last at-home bout of the season. Tickets: $12- adults $7- under 12 purchased from team member/ heartlandhellcats.com or Express AVL. 6:30 p.m.

• Golden Spike Tower (1249 N. Homestead Rd) - Twilight Tours, Open until 11 p.m. September 30, Always the third Saturday of the month.

Wednesday, Sept 20

• The Prairie Arts Center (416 N Jeffers) - The Pigcasso Project, Community Connections Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition & Prairie Arts Center fundraiser silent auction. Nearly 45 piggy banks for the silent auction. Pigs were painted by local artists and youth. Pulled pork BBQ, free will donation. 5:30-7 p.m.
