At the Prairie Arts Center: Upcoming events Tell North Platte what you think

The events that are scheduled in September at the Prairie Arts Center:

• Sept. 7 (Thur.) -  Art Chat by the Nebraska Arts Council -- Free art chat/dinner/grant session. 4-8 p.m. (click here to register).

• Sept. 11 (Mon.)- Patchwork Nebraska Canvas Class- instructor Brittany McDaniel. 6-8 p.m. (click here to register)

• Sept. 15 (Fri.) - NET "The Vietnam War" – 30-minute screening of the new Ken Burns documentary. Noon at PAC- Free to public, lunch provided by Kevin Kennedy and the Daughters of the American Revolution. 

• Sept. 20 (Wed.) - The Pigcasso Project silent auction and BBQ. Painted piggy banks will be up for silent bid. Proceeds benefit Community Connections’ Substance Abuse Coalition. 5:30-7 pm at PAC

• Sept. 23 (Sat.) - Gallery - Honoring Dr. Larry Peterson: Abstracted Landscapes. Paintings by Larry Peterson and Barbara Takenaga. Reception: 2-3 p.m. Gallery Talk at 2:25 p.m.

The exhibition is sponsored by the North Platte High Class of 1967 and its 50th reunion. Dr. Peterson is a former NPHS art teacher and a co-founder of the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney. Takenaga has lived and maintained a studio in New York City for more than 30 years. She is currently the Mary A. and William Wirt Warren Professor of Art at Williams College in Massachusetts.
