A stranded woman from Des Moines, Iowa was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with trying to steal a car in Sutherland.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s office said around 4 p.m. Tuesday a Sutherland resident called and said a woman just tried to steal her car.

While deputies were responding, the resident said the woman ran away on foot, and the victim followed her to a local store, the sheriff’s report said.

When deputies arrived, they detained the woman and identified her as Lisa Lauder, 42, of Des Moines.

Lauder told deputies that her boyfriend abandoned her in Sutherland and she was just trying to get home.

Lauder was charged with attempted theft and placed in the Lincoln County jail.
