Man run over in domestic disturbanceTell North Platte what you think

A man was run over Sunday evening at a Lake Maloney campground in an alleged domestic dispute that became violent, the Lincoln County sheriff’s office said Monday.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Lake Maloney inlet around 8 p.m. Sunday to check out a report that a man was hit by a motor vehicle.

Deputies discovered a man, James Branam, 46, was run over by a pickup at the Kansas Point camping area. A North Platte Rescue team responded and took him to Great Plains Health, according to the sheriff’s statement.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Branam was fighting with his wife Tina Branam, 56, and she tried to drive away. The man grabbed the passenger side of the vehicle, was drug down the gravel road and eventually run over by a rear tire, the sheriff’s office said.

The Branams are North Platte residents, the sheriff’s office said.

Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the case, and the case remains under investigation, the sheriff said.

No charges have  been filed.
